Collecting Can Be Murder – Lucy Burdette – #bookgiveaway

LucyWe’re celebrating the upcoming release of my third Food Lovers’ Village mystery, BUTTER OFF DEAD (July 7—save the suspense and pre-order it now!), with a glimpse of some of your favorite authors’ prized collections.

Today, a peek at the shelves of Lucy Burdette, author of the scrumptious Key West Food Critic series.

Fatal Reservations“Luckily, I don’t collect things. Except, ummm, books. Does that count? My latest obsession is fiction and memoir centered around food and cooking. The photo shows a small piece of my library (not even counting cookbooks and cozy culinary mysteries!) I have convinced myself that this is all done in the name of research, because I start each chapter of my Key West food critic mysteries with a culinary epigraph. Here’s an example of the gems I’ve found: “If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.” Manuel Rouvelas”

  1. I, too, collect books. I love mysteries of all kinds and would love to read Fatal Reservations! This sounds like a great series! Thank you for the giveaway!

    • Epigraphs add another layer to a story, don’t they? I’ve been having fun with them in my Spice Shop mysteries, and Lucy does a great job with them.

  2. I still have most of the 45s and LPs I started collecting in the 50s. I do have a record player, so I could play them but not in years.

      • Actually lots of country (Mac Davis) and folk (Gordon Lightfoot) music early on with a complement of artists like Elvis, Johnny Mathis and Andy Williams. Later on, soft rock acts like Bread, the Bee Gees and Olivia Newton-John. I have 100 Cliff Richard LPs. Although I liked some harder rock, I did not stockpile same. I have CDs now, but don’t really collect them. There is just something about those 12-inch covers!

  3. I stopped buying books and decided to use the town library. They have a large selection and I can request books from other libraries. Thank you for the chance to win this giveaway.

  4. I love to collect books also, and Garfield’s (the cartoon cat). We live in a very small house, however, so somehow I have to start letting go of some of the books…decisions, decisions.

  5. I have started reading these cozy mystery books and love them. So you can say I am starting to collect them. Thank you for the chance.

  6. I have a little bit of everything around the house. Not huge collections, but just enough. At this point in my life it’s time to stop collecting and time to start giving. Hank you for the chance to win this giveaway, so I can add to my book collection.

  7. I collect not just books but cookbooks. I love to read cookbooks to get ideas of ingredients that work together.

  8. I wish I had more room for my collection. A large part of it is in a storage locker. Thank you for a chance to win a copy of Fatal Reservations.

    • I crack up when I see pictures in decorating magazines — I’m addicted to Country Living — showing bookcases filled with other things! No books! Or short stacks of books, or books covered in decorative paper. Never trust a person without books in their home!

  9. I collect books, mostly mysteries. I like to collect Sherlock Holmes books. There are lots of authors writing them. In the picture I see a French course. I collect French and German courses (books & CD’s or tapes). I just dabble, can’t really speak it.
